Being on the Estate provides some exquisite quietness. We have a neighbor in the garage next to us, but the nearest highway or busy street is at least a 1/2 mile away. Quiet in terms of man made noise. But don't talk to Gen about the frogs. They were so loud the first day that they woke her up.
But the distance has it's disadvantages. Only very old land line phones are available. Cell phone reception is very spotty, no regular internet access and not even a TV antenna. So it might seem weird that we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the satellite internet installation guy. This should provide a consistent connection to "the outside world".
On another note - We thought we had lost Sarah's birth certificate in all the shuffle after applying for her passport renewal. But the passport office just returned it since it had been submitted with the renewal. Duh.
We are hoping that the fire investigation and evidence gathering will be completed today. Then we can move forward with the clean out of Gen's room. This would also mean we can get the power turned back on soon which would also help with the drying out of the house.
